European Championships of the Blood Bowl Press Conference

At the end of October, The National Sport School hosted a press conference in view of The European Championships of the Blood Bowl which are being organised at the school on the 5 th and 6 th of November 2022. The championships will include 400 competitors from 21 different countries. The President of the Federation, Jean Mark Meli, who has been holding this position for the past five years, said that this sport is a Table Top Sport, similar to that of a board game. He remarked that this type of sport is becoming more popular among athletes. This event comes a year after the association acquired the rights to host such championships in Malta thanks to the good results achieved by the Maltese participants who competed in previous games. Minister for Education and Sport, Dr Clifton Grima, who was also present during the press conference, intimated the importance of hosting such competitions in Malta which do not only serve as an opportunity for
sports but also as a boost to the tourism industry. Dr Grima also thanked and congratulated the
Head of School, Mr Robert Magro, for his unceasing efforts to promote the school premises as a
venue for different sports practices and for multiple sports events and championships.
