January 2026 – Weightlifting Training Camp – Baku, Azerbaijan

The training camp in Baku, Azerbaijan was a great experience for the National Sport School weightlifting student-athletes.Throughout the camp, the students benefited from exposure to elite-level training practices, close collaboration with experienced international coaches, and the opportunity to train alongside Youth and Junior European Champion athletes.

From a technical perspective, the camp allowed for significant refinement of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, with focused work on positioning, timing, and consistency under increasing load. Strength development was progressively structured across the week, culminating in high-intensity sessions that demonstrated measurable performance improvements and enhanced confidence among the athletes.

Equally important were the educational and developmental aspects of the camp. The students maintained academic responsibilities throughout, participated in daily feedback sessions, and were exposed to cultural and social activities that contributed to personal growth, discipline, and team cohesion. The visit by officials from the Azerbaijani Weightlifting Federation and national media coverage further reinforced the value and professionalism of the experience.

While the accommodation arrangements presented some limitations at times, particularly with regard to food variety and overall accommodation standards, these factors did not detract from the quality of the training camp. The training environment itself was of an exceptionally high standard and played a decisive role in the success of the camp and the overall development of the student-athletes.

Overall, the training camp successfully met its objectives of athletic development, international exposure, and holistic student growth. It represented a valuable investment in the long-term development of the National Sport School’s weightlifting programme and the future potential of its student-athletes.
