Our aim at the National Sport School is to excel, not only in the Sports field, but also in the academic field. We face the challenges and drive to succeed against all odds. This year, the 6th edition of the Literary evening was dedicated to ‘WOMEN’. This was transmitted live on our You Tube channel on Friday 11th March April, at 6.30pm.
Did you miss it? You can still follow it:
Students and educators tackled the stories of different ‘WOMEN’ past and present, in Malta and abroad. The students’ research, creative writing and expressive readings during the event was exceptional and gave us insights into the lives of ordinary women who lived extraordinary lives. Women who faced challenges to fight for their rights and for the rights of the sick, weak and minority groups. We looked at women in literature, politics, fashion, history and important women in our everyday lives.
Throughout the preparation for this event, the students practiced their oracy and communication skills, memorized scripts and researched information. They talked in front of cameras, using microphones and infront of an audience. These are skills that as student-athletes, will be treasured in their career. They learned about characters still unknown to them and understood how the courage, determination and strength of character can be so inspirational. As athletes, they too can be role-models for future generations. Students dedicated their free time to rehearsals and were constructive in criticizing recorded items and choosing which take was best to include in the final product.
Yet again, this year’s literary evening was a memorable event, not only because the whole journey was a learning experience for both students and us educators, but also because the support we received was beyond any expectations. Well done to everybody involved.
