€4,500 collected in aid of Puttinu Cares during the first edition of the National Sport School Charity Run

The National Sport School has organised the first edition of its Charity Run in the limits of Pembroke with admirable results.

The entire school – students and teachers – ran the sponsored 5-kilometer route in aid of Puttinu Cares.

Representing Puttinu Cares were the President of the NSS School Council, Dr Andrew Decelis, who is a Director on the Board of Puttinu Cares, Rennie Zerafa and Angele Cuschieri. They expressed their approval of initiatives such as this which raise much-needed funds for people in difficult situations.

The Head of School, Mr Robert Magro addressed the students. He said that the school aims to organize charity events that raise funds through sport. He reminded them of the Charity Swim held last December and told them that these two events: The Swim and the Run, will become fixtures in the school calendar.

At 10 o’clock everyone set off at a run. Members of the Community Police helped the teachers keep an eye on the runners throughout the route.

The National Sport School is also grateful to Dean Hili, Mayor of Pembroke, who spoke about the importance of instilling a sense of solidarity with those less fortunate than ourselves.

He said that the National Sport School is in a wonderful position to not only instill a social conscience in its students but also to do this through the very ethos of the school which is sport.

The National Sport School is grateful to all its official sponsors namely:

Greens Supermarket, Farsons Direct, Hilton Malta, Oney Insurance, Em Emergency Malta, Livingwell, Padel Malta, MM Gypsum, Vella Commercial Imports, EV of Malta and Paparazzi Malta.
