The National Sport School recently organised a truly original Mother’s Day celebration for the students and their mothers.
The mothers who attended described the experience as unexpectedly emotional. Here’s what we did:
The activity took place at the Hilton and as the mothers gathered for what they thought would be coffee, biscuits and a series of speeches followed by lunch, their children were brought over by private and each mother was treated to an unexpected meeting with her child who presented her with a flower.
The students returned to school and Mass was celebrated.
After Mass we played a game where the mothers were asked how they thought their child had answered a series of questions about them. The answers were then compared, and the mothers were deeply touched at how well their children knew them.
This was followed by a short film we had shot a few days before, with the children reading out handwritten and personalised messages of love and gratitude. There wasn’t a dry eye left in the house.
Then a professional beautician demonstrated how to apply light makeup suitable for day time. Each mother was presented with a goody bag filled with samples of beauty and health products and the event was concluded with a buffet lunch.
I think we can safely say it was a roaring success.
